Belt Driven Linear Actuators

Belt-driven linear actuators are the perfect solution for conveyance and shuttle transport applications when trying to achieve high speed motion and long stroke lengths. MB Kit Systems’ engineering team has extensive experience designing linear actuator solutions for quick part and material transportation as well as positioning applications.

Typical belt-driven linear actuator projects include packaging machinery, laboratory automation, test fixtures, water jets, laser cutting machines, welding operations, and other applications in which quiet operation, smooth motion, and consistency are a priority.

MB Kit Systems’ engineering team can integrate linear motion into the t-slots of structural aluminum extrusion framing. This allows for the support structure and framing, linear motion, and safety hard guarding to be designed and delivered as a single unit.

This consolidation of design functionality saves project time and money.

As a single axis, the belt-driven linear actuators are ideal for cutting operations, laser identification, pulling and stretching, or high speed placement of parts. Belt-driven linear actuators designed by MB Kit Systems can be combined to create XYZ configurations suitable for a wide range of multi-axis linear motion applications.

Multi-axis applications of belt-driven linear actuators are extensive. Typical projects demanding multi-axis functionality are related to material handling operations and often require moving loads left, right, up and down from a home position. This simple process can become complicated for components of different sizes, though even varying sizes and weights can be arranged for easy inspection.

Overhead gantries are a common application for belt-driven linear actuators up to and exceeding 100 feet in length. Gantry applications are found throughout a variety of industries and can be a low-cost solution when considering robots for handling materials. In some cases, even existing robots can be moved with belt-driven linear actuators, adding versatility to operations.

MB Kit Systems is the go-to company for many automotive manufacturing solutions. We have designed and built systems for automotive sub-assembly presentation to assembly robots, as well as a variety of specialty machines with integrated linear motion capabilities.

The inherent versatility of item’s modular Machine Building Kit System allows for flexibility in design, enabling easy integration of future innovative updates. item’s simple fastening elements minimize downtime by requiring just a few hand tools to disassemble and reassemble frames from MB Kit Systems. No longer will you need a welder on site!

Are belt-driven linear actuators from MB Kit Systems a suitable fit for your application? The general guideline below may be helpful…

  • Repeatability of +/- 0.15mm (+/-0.005”)
  • Positional accuracy of +/- 0.45mm (+/-0.017”) Breakaway torque is application specific
  • Maximum speeds of 10 meters per second
  • Stroke length from six inches to 100+ feet. Greater lengths are available but should be discussed with an expert from MB Kit Systems
  • Loads from a few ounces to thousands of pounds depending on load orientation

Allow our in-house engineering team the opportunity to propose a mechanical linear motion solution, custom designed for your exact application. To start, provide us with all relevant project information. Common parameters for linear applications include: load (and any off-set load), thrust load, max speed, acceleration, any incline, structural support details (fully supported or free-span?), carriage configuration, or any pertinent details concerning the operating environment. Provide us with the motor make & model and we’ll include the necessary adapter plate machining to provide you with a turnkey mechanical solution that is plug and play ready.
